Pa. Volunteer Firefighter Charged In 3 Fires
POTTSTOWN, Pa. (AP) – A southeastern Pennsylvania volunteer firefighter is facing arson charges stemming from three fires and authorities are trying to determine if he was involved in nine other suspicious blazes.
Montgomery County District Attorney Risa Vetri Ferman says 23-year-old Charles Sluzenski IV, of Pottstown, set three fires after a night of drinking that lasted into the early-morning hours Saturday. No injuries were reported.
Investigators say Sluzenski showed up at the scene of the last fire, drunk and in full firefighter gear, asking to help. He was charged with public intoxication and police say he later told them he set the three fires that night.
Sluzenski is being held on $50,000 bail. It was not immediately clear if he had an attorney.
