Foundation Awards Scholarships To 22 Students

Chelsea McDonald Chelsea McDonald The Allegany College of Maryland Foundation has announced the awarding of scholarships to 22 students for the 2009-10 academic year.

Amy Long of Three Springs, Pa., was awarded the Kelly-Springfield Tire Company Scholarship. She is a nursing major who worked as a certified nurse aide. A 1991 graduate of Huntingdon Area High School, she earned an associate’s degree in management and marketing at South Hills Business School. She and her husband, Michael, are the parents of two daughters, Denaye and Nikki.

Chelsea McDonald of Mc- Connellsburg, Pa., was presented an Allegany Cardiology Center Scholarship. She is a dental hygiene major. A 2008 McConnellsburg High School graduate, she has worked at Sheetz and the Rainbow’s End restaurant. She is the daughter of Tracey Harris and Charles McDonald.

Barbara Miller of Robertsdale, Pa., also received the Alicia K. Duffy Memorial Scholarship. She is a nursing major at the ACM-Bedford County Campus. A graduate of Northern High School and PTC Career Institute, both in Baltimore, Miller has worked as a certified nursing assistant in nursing homes, owned a personal care home and been a hospital operating room and anesthesia technician. She has four children – Rebecca and Luke Miller and Daniel and Michael Trimp – and one grandson, Darien Trimp.
