3 Pa. Teens Charged In Attack At Elementary School
PHILADELPHIA (AP) – Police say three teenagers have been charged with assault after an attack upon fourth- and fifth-grade students on a North Philadelphia school playground at recess.
Authorities say seven or eight older youths, at least one wielding a baseball bat, injured 10 boys at about 12:50 p.m. Friday at Julia Howe Elementary School in the Fern Rock section of the city. Officials say none of the injuries were serious. Officials say the motive remains unclear.
Officials say three students at nearby Martin Luther King High School were charged.
Howe principal Doaquin Jessup says one of the two women monitoring the recess tried to get children inside while the other began chasing the teens away. He said in a note to parents that recess would be suspended for the next few days as a precaution.
