The area was treated with thunderstorms on Sunday evening.

Sorry to hear Simon Mellott had the misfortune of being injured in a mowing accident. We send speedy recovery wishes to him.

Also, we hear Charlotte Crouse is having some physical problems. We also send recovery wishes to her.

Make sure you mark your calendars for Friday, May 7, and Saturday, May 8, at 7:00 p.m., as the Forbes Road High School students will resent their very first musical, “Grease,” going back to the fabulous ’50s. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for students. A lot of hard work and time has been given to put this musical on, so it promises to be very enjoyable.

Don’t forget that the Hustontown Fire Co. will sponsor its annual Mother’s Day smorgasbord on Sunday, May 9, beginning at 11:00 a.m., featuring a variety

of meats, vegetables, stuffing, gravy, variety of salads, ..beverages. The firemen appreciate your support. A good place to take mother for dinner.

Clear Ridge folks are having their food and yard sale Thursday and Friday, May 6 and 7. Go out and browse around and eat.

Happy Mother’s Day to all mothers.

Garden hint: Planting marigolds among beans, spinach, tomatoes and celery will help protect these vegetables from root insects and other insects. The roots of marigolds produce a chemical in the soil that kills lots of insects.
