Man Dies In Fire After Truck Crashes Into Home
CLARKSBURG, Pa. (AP) – Authorities in western Pennsylvania say an elderly man died after he apparently drove his pickup truck through the garage door of an unoccupied home, sparking a blaze that killed him and spread to the house.
Indiana County officials say the body of 76-year-old Norman Brown of Atwood was found Friday morning in the driver’s seat of the truck partially inside the garage of the two-story Conemaugh Township home. Indiana County Coroner Michael Baker said Saturday that Brown died of smoke inhalation.
Authorities say they are unclear why Baker was near the home or whether he knew the residents, who were away on vacation. The coroner says the manner of death cannot be determined because it is “impossible to determine with certainty the intent of the victim or what his state of mind may have been at the time.’’
