Last weekend, Gordon and Donna Locke and Ruth Grissinger attended a birthday party for Cameron Locke at the home of Adam and Amanda Locke for his 11th birthday.
Mushrooms have been hard to find this spring in most places. Last weekend, for the first time ever in hunting mushrooms, I found myself in a hood with gloves on to keep warm. But surprisingly, despite the cold, I actually found a few of each color: black, brown, gray and white.
Bobby Madden, son Bobby Madden and grandson Damon of Pittsburgh visited with Buzz and Bea Covert last Saturday while doing some fishing in our local streams. Also enjoying the fishing season opener were Andy, Tasha, Shaine and Kean Goshorn.

Curt and Amy Patterson recently traveled to Bob Jones University in South Carolina to visit with their daughter, Hilary Patterson. While there, they attended her senior voice recital. Hilary performed seven solo pieces of music and her proud parents said she gave a beautiful performance. Also attending were Sean Patterson, Charlotte Hodge, Dorothy and Eric Patterson, Denny and Karen Long, and Dave, Sue and Cory Hearn.
Amy Patterson was visited on Wednesday by some wishful mushroom hunters from Fort Loudon looking for directions to Locke’s Valley Road. They must have been chasing those great tales of mushrooms found here in good ole Huntingdon County.

Congratulations to Kenny and Nancy Bivens on their 25th wedding anniversary celebration. Little Miss Anna, who is not quite two, was the life of the party with her dancing antics.

The Angel Wings organization will host a Community Mother’s Day lunch at the Orbisonia Lions Club building on Mother’s Day from >11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. The meal will be served family style. Reservations to Ruth Grissinger for parties of four or more are suggested. There will be door prizes, raffle tickets and mother’s appreciation gift. All proceeds benefit those who are helped by Angel Wings.
There will be gospel music on Friday, April 30, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Orbisonia UMC Outreach Center.
The Relay For Life team will be hosting a community “spaghetti luncheon” on Sunday, May 2, at the Orbisonia UMC Outreach Center from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
