Can Drive Fulton County Community Cavaliers 4-H group is having its first aluminum can drive during the month of May. Donations can be dropped off at Dibert’s Metal along Route 522 north during regular business hours. All proceeds will go to a local mental health organization. Mother’s Day Flower Sale St. Stephen Family Life Committee is sponsoring a Mother’s Day flower sale in front of Snyder’s Insurance on Friday, May 7, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and on Saturday, May 8, at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church from 9:00 a.m. until noon. Hanging baskets and flowers in pots will be available.

Yard Sale A yard sale will be held May 1 at 8:00 a.m. at McConnellsburg United Methodist Church parking lot. Donations only sale. Pick and pay what you would like. Proceeds go to Hait.

Crafts/Bake Sale Fulton County Medical Center Auxiliary will hold a crafts and bake sale in the Medical Center main lobby Friday, May 7 at 9:00 a.m.

Buck-A-Bag Day At Thrift Shop Center youth will hold a Buck-A-Bag Day at Second Time Thrift Shop in Waterfall on Saturday, May 7, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Bags will be supplied to be filled for $1. Second Time has a variety of items ranging from clothes, toys and household things.

Book, Plant, Bake Sale Fulton County Library will hold a book, plant and bake sale May 14 and 15, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at 227 North First Street, McConnellsburg. Lunch stand will only be available Friday. Proceeds will be matched by the Modern Woodman of America.

AARP Driver Safety Program The classroom refresher course for the AARP Driver Safety Program will be offered at McConnellsburg Senior Center, 100 Woodside Drive, McConnellsburg, on May 6 and 7. There will be two days of classes, 9:30 a.m. to noon each day. Advanced registration is required. Cost is $12 for AARP members and $14 for nonmembers. Make check payable to AARP. Sign up in person, by phone at 485-5613 or by mail. Graduates of the class age 55 and over will be eligible for three-year auto insurance discounts. If there is more than one person over 55 on your insurance policy, all must complete the class to be eligible for the discount. If planning on staying for dinner at the center following the class, please call the day before.

Cemetery Cleanup Asbury Cemetery Association will hold its annual cleanup day on Monday, May 3, at 5:30 p.m. Raindate is Tuesday, May 4, at 5:30 p.m.

Bird ID Walk DCNR, Bureau of Forestry, will host a bird identification walk Sunday, May 2, at 8:00 a.m. at the Kerper tract (also known as Redbud Valley) of the Buchanan State forest, near Big Cove Tannery. Meet at the parking area along State Route 928 near the new footbridge over Big Cove Creek at 8:00 a.m. The event is free and participants should dress appropriately. Participants may want to bring binoculars and a field guide.

Open House Fulton County Community Christian School will be holding an open house Friday, May 7, 2010, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. FCCCS has classes for pre-K through 12th grade. Parents and members of the community are invited to come and check out what’s new and exciting at FCCCS. The school is located at 8159 Great Cove Road, Needmore.
