Open Mic Night Held At Senior Center

On Saturday night, April 10, an overflowing crowd packed the Warfordsburg Senior Citizens building for the second open mic night. Nearly a dozen groups from several counties participated in the event. Ninety-twoyear old Floyd Palmer “spooned” along with a variety of stringed instruments. Fiddles, banjos and guitar players filled the platform for a time of knee slappin’, toe tappin’ entertainment. An alltime favorite, “The Old Country Church” and other gospel songs were presented by Don Unger, a well-known musician and singer from Hancock. Other groups offered classic and country songs as well as instrumentals.

Homemade pizzas were an added treat along with other delicious refreshments. The aroma of dough baking set the evening for a heartwarming and hom-ey feeling.

Mark calendar for the next open-mic night on Saturday, May 8, beginning at 6:00 p.m. This event will honor all moms with a gift and a segment of music just for them. Requests are already filtering in for special songs and dedications to mothers.

The musicians that performed included John Shank, Harold Overcash, Kenny Beahl, Ray and Terry Betts, Kenny Puew, Jean (banjo player) Bob Burton, Richard Duley, Don Unger, Floyd Palmer and Jack Wink.
