Librarian Attends State Conference

Cindy Fraker, librarian at McConnellsburg High School and Middle School, attended the 37th Annual Pennsylvania School Librarians Association Conference at the Penn Stater Conference Center at State College, Pa., April 15 - 17, 2010. The theme for the conference was “Make Your Mark @Your library.” A tour of the Dickinson School of Law Library and the H.O. Smith Botanic Gardens on the Penn State campus was a highlight of the conference this year.

Speakers included “Advocacy Guru” Stephanie Vance and authors Robin Wasserman and Laura Amy Schlitz.

More than seventy different workshop sessions dealt with topics and issues relating to school librarians and their role in education. Included were sessions on multimedia such as digital photography, blogs, podcasts and photobooks and social networking technologies such as Facebook, Skype and Twitter.

More than 100 PSLA exhibitors had display booths set up in the conference exhibit area and approximately 540 school librarians from Pennsylvania attended the conference this year.
