Harry W. Mellott Sr.
Born October 10, 1921, in Cito, Pa., the son of the late Cam and Lucy (Richards) Mellott, he lived in Cito all his life. He married Jean Marcelle Morton on June 11, 1942 who survives at their home, his loving wife of 67 years.
Also surviving are six children: Patricia Carbaugh (Larry), McConnellsburg; JoAnne Onorato (Richard), Fayetteville; Carol Geist (Franklin, Jr.), York Springs; Barbara MacDonald (Wayne); Joyce Peck (Tom); and H. Wesley Mellott Jr., all of Mc- Connellsburg; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandson; three sisters: Esther Green, Dorothy McQuade and Wava Hess, and one brother, George Mellott.
He was preceded in death by two sisters: Helen Johnston and Martha Mowen; brother Jim Mellott and infant brother and sister, Carl Eugene and Lena Marden.
This kind, gentle man loved his Lord and honored his fellowman. He was a lifelong devoted member of Cito United Methodist Church serving as Sunday School superintendent, teacher, trustee, president of the administrative council and other offices.
He was a good neighbor serving as auditor for Ayr Township and member of the board of directors of Union Cemetery Association.
Always the farmer, he loved the land and all that goes with it.
A memorial service was held at Cito United Methodist Church at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday April 14, 2010 with Rev. Dr. John Godissart and Rev. Donald Bard officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cito United Methodist Church, 3746 Cito Rd., McConnellsburg, PA 17233.
