Carl L. Houck
He was born July 17, 1920, in New Grenada, to John and Ethel (Thomas) Houck. He was the husband of the late Ruth M. Black Houck, who died on July 13, 2004.
He attended Immanuel Bible Church, Three Springs.
He retired from T.B. Woods Co. in Chambersburg in 1982. He had worked building the turnpike tunnel on Sideling Hill, and also worked for PennDOT and was a tax collector at one time.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He enjoyed hunting, gardening and wood-crafting. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by his three children: Larry (husband of Joan) Houck of New Grenada; and his twin children: Merrill (husband of Bonnie) Houck of Chambersburg; and Sherrill (wife of Paul) Snyder of Fayetteville; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth; his daughter, Karen Stiver; his grandson, Jeff Stiver; and a granddaughter, Diana Snyder.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 14, 2010, at Kelso- Cornelius Funeral Home, McConnellsburg. Revs. Steve Heaster and Ken Cornelius officiated. Interment was held at Bethel Cemetery.
