Relay For Life Approaching
The American Cancer Society Relay for Life Committee meeting will be held at the American Legion in Mc- Connellsburg on April 19 at 7 p.m. Registration was due April 5, but it is not too late to register your team. All teams need to have their registration forms into the Chambersburg office as soon as possible to ensure that all team members get the correct T-shirt size. T-shirts will be handed out at bank night.
The Fulton County Relay For Life will be held at the Fulton County Fairgrounds on May 21 and 22 this year.
Relay activities will begin at 4 p.m. Friday May 21, with survivor and caregiver registration, followed by a survivor celebration and lap, a caregiver ceremony, and, at 6 p.m., a survivor reception. Survivors should have received a letter to register in the mail. The luminaria ceremony will be starting at 9 p.m. on Friday, May 21. This is a community event with everyone welcome. For anyone wanting to have a luminaria placed around the track in honor or in memory of a loved one, forms are available now. Something new this year, teams and individuals will now get credit for the luminaria donations. To have a team or individual credited for the amount, the order form must be in the Chambersburg office by May 14. Donations for luminaria will be accepted the week leading up to the event and the day of the event, however, any money received after May 14 will be credited to event luminaria money. Please turn in the luminaria forms in as soon as possible to ensure individual credits.
Activities planned for the laps this year include a healthy snack lap, a crazy hat lap, a pajama lap, a pizza lap, a poker lap and lots more. Times will be announced for each lap.
The next committee meeting will be at 7 p.m. on April 19, 2010, at the American Legion. All team captains, committee members, cancer survivors and anyone else wishing to get involved are welcome. This meeting will wrap up loose ends and finalize plans.
