McConnellsburg quickly scored 10 runs in the first three innings of Monday’s game to cruise to a 10-4 victory over Shade. Nathan Swope was handed the win with eight strikeouts, four walks, five hits and two earned runs. Swope also connected at the plate for a double and finished the nonleague game batting two-fortwo, while teammate Tanner Shoop had a homer.
McConnellsburg loaded the bases during the seventh inning of last Tuesday’s Sideling Hill League game but couldn’t pull off a last minute comeback against the Everett Warriors. In dropping the game 6-3, pitcher Evan Appleby took the loss with four hits, three walks and six earned runs. Teammates Jesse Swope, Nathan Swope and Devin Welsh all had doubles for Mc- Connellsburg, while Darren McQuade wrapped up the game with two hits.
Hancock 10 Forbes Road 9
Down by three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning, Hancock scored four runs to pull off a last minute 10-9 victory over the Forbes Road Cardinals. Three Cardinals took to the mound on Wednesday, but pitcher Brandon Blair took the loss with four walks, one hit and three earned runs. Dylan Gelvin had a triple and a two-run double, while Dillon Burger also added a double.
McConnellsburg picked up its first win of the spring season Thursday night, eking out a one-point Sideling Hill League win over the Fannett-Metal Tigers. Devin Welsh posted eight hits, one walk, four earned runs and three strikeouts for her first win on the mound. Teammates Nathan Swope, Evan Appleby, Drew Wink and Levi Crouse all had doubles, and Crouse and Wink both finished with two hits each.

Pitcher Derek Younker finished seven innings on the mound last Thursday for the victorious Southern Fulton Indians 8-6. Younker tallied 11 strikeouts, one walk, 11 hits and five earned runs in the Sideling Hill League game. Younker also had a double, as did teammate Dylan Whiteside, who also contributed two RBIs. Seth Hall drove in three runs to finish out the match.
Hyndman 9 Forbes Road 5
Four members of the Forbes Road Cardinals team hit the mound Thursday, but it was Dakota DeShong who took the defeat during the 9-5 loss to the Hyndman Hornets. DeShong finished the league match giving up three walks, two hits and four earned runs. Dylan Gelvin led the offensive effort with two hits and three RBIs, and teammate Colby Buterbaugh rounded out the game with a pair of hits. Trent Black finished with an extra-base hit, a double.
Southern Fulton 8 Tussey 5
Four members of the Southern Fulton Indians pitching squad took to the mound, but it was Tyler Trail who picked up the win during an 8-5 victory over the Tussey Mountain Titans Saturday. Trail tallied two strikeouts, one walk, two hits and only one earned run. Derek Younker and teammate Zach Morton each tallied two hits, while Morton also contributed two runs and two RBIs.
