Man Charged With Bilking Women Met On Dating Sites
PHILADELPHIA (AP) – Federal prosecutors in Philadelphia say a man bilked two women out of thousands of dollars after meeting them on Internet dating sites.
Thirty-three-year-old Jaitass Dhanoa was charged last week with opening credit cards under the names of two women he met online. Authorities say the Indian national made a voluntary statement admitting the thefts.
Investigators say Dhanoa ran up approximately $20,000 in charges on various credit cards issued in the names of the women.
Dhanoa was arrested last week after arranging a meeting with one of the alleged victims. Authorities say a search of his hotel room turned up credit cards in various names and a photocopy of a passport bearing the name Jay Dudley Singh.
Dhanoa’s public defender did not immediately respond to a message seeking comment Tuesday.
