Hustontown

By Kate Berkstresser

The weather was really great for the Easter weekend. Lots of folks were out to Sunrise services at Center United Methodist Church on Sunday morning and also enjoyed a nice breakfast served by the church folks of Center and Clear Ridge churches.

Sunday dinner guests at the home of Harvey and Pat Berkstresser were Lloyd Covert and Kate Berkstresser.

Sorry to hear Pastor Bill Kuhn wasn’t feeling so well on Sunday. Hope he will be better this week.

Happy birthday this week to Jackie Berkstresser on April 10.

The Northern Fulton Burial Association held its annual meeting on Monday evening, April 5. The association will accept new members up to the age of 65. If interested, call Nancy Traxler at 987-3608.

Hustontown Volunteer Fire Co. will sponsor a food auction non Friday, April 9, at 6:00 p.m. Frozen foods, snacks and miscellaneous items will be offered for sale. The fireman always appreciate any support that you give them. The kitchen will be open at 5:00 p.m.

The fire company will also sponsor a hog shoot on Saturday, April 10, at 1:00 p.m. Come out and test skills and support the firemen at the same time. It is always appreciated.

An open stage and chicken barbecue will be held Saturday, April 24, at the firehall at 6:00 p.m. As usual the kitchen opens at 5:00 p.m., and a time for the chicken barbecue will be printed later. Come out and let your talent be enjoyed by others. Now is the time to let your shine.

Household hint: Don’t waste time and garden space planting bulbs that were forced indoors for winter bloom. They will not bloom again. Run the mower through your leaf pile and use them for mulch for flower beds.
