Nancy G. Hess
Nancy G. “Nannie” Hess, 97, formerly of Shade Gap, died at 6:20 p.m., Saturday, March 13, 2010, at the Church of God Home, Carlisle.
Born June 9, 1912, in Burnt Cabins, she was a daughter of the late D.B. and Frances (Mills) Gallagher. She married Clarence J. Red Hess June 25, 1941. He preceded her in death August 22, 1974.
She is survived by a daughter, Asonia (McAllen) Wolf and husband Rodney, Carlisle; three grandchildren: Lisa (Carter) Campbell, John J. McAllen and wife Traci and Aissa (McAllen) Miller and husband Terry, Carlisle; five great-grandchildren: Brandi (Carter) Cook and husband Troy; Cortina and Shanice Campbell, Sophia McAllen and Collin Miller and three greatgreat grandchildren: Taylor, Tanner and Brayden.
She was preceded in death by two sisters: Marie Downes and Grace Houck.
She was a former member of the Shade Gap Presbyterian Church, where she played organ and taught Sunday school.
She had also been a member of the Shade Gap Presbyterian Church Cemetery Association, the ladies auxiliary of the Shade Gap Volunteer Fire Co., Huntingdon County Grange and Farm Women, and she had served on the board of directors of the Community State Bank of Orbisonia.
She enjoyed gardening, traveling, cooking and baking. Her family and friends remember her house was always a great place to come for a meal.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 17, at Martin R. Brown Funeral Home, Orbisonia. Pastor Mary Medkaff-Rose officiated. Interment was made in the Shade Gap Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Shade Gap.
