Elizabeth F. Detrich

Elizabeth F. “Betty” Detrich, 85, Mercersburg, died Saturday, March 6, 2010, at her home.

She was born June 13, 1924, in Fort Loudon, to Harry and Ida (Kann) Faith. She was married to Charles E. “Pete” Detrich Jr. on February 15, 1947.

She was a 1942 graduate of Lemasters High School and attended Chambersburg Business College. She later worked in retail sales at Eyerly’s in Chambersburg and was a secretary for Tuscarora School District, R.A. Hill Construction, Global Telecommunications and retired from John Hornbaker Plumbing and Heating.

She was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Lemasters. She was a member of Order of The Eastern Star 519 in McConnellsburg. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother rand great-grandmother who lived for her family.

Surviving are her husband, Charles E. “Pete” Detrich Jr. and their daughter, Susan D. (wife of Paul) Strubhar, Mercersburg; four grandchildren: Charles E. “Charlie” Detrich IV, Chambersburg; Brian Scott Detrich, Taylorsville, Ky.; Angela Renee (Detrich) Stark, Taylorsville, Ky., and Matthew Charles Strubhar, Carthage, Ill.; nine great-grandchildren and a daughter-in-law, Beverly Ann (Carmack) Detrich, Taylorsville, Ky.

She was preceded in death by a son, Charles E. “Ed” Detrich III, in addition to her parents and three sisters.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 11, at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Lemasters. Revs. Robert Mentzer, E.Loy Garber and Chaplain John Winkler officiated.

Interment was made in Stenger Hill Cemetery. Order of the Eastern Star conducted memorial services at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 10.

Memorial donations may be sent to American Cancer Society or to Hospice of the Good Shepherd, 2700 Luther Drive, Chambersburg, AP 17202.

Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home St. Thomas, was in charge of arrangements.
