A mainstay in the village of Knobsville since the mid-1940s, Elvey's Flowers & Greenhouses was ravaged by a devastating fire last Wednesday morning. Firefighters run three attack lines to combat the blaze that originated in the main greenhouse. Firefighters launched an aggressive interior attack upon their arrival at Elvey’s last Wednesday before taking a more defensive approach. Fire Chief Pete Lynch takes command of the equipment and manpower on the scene that represented companies from a six-county area. Firefighters look through the front entrance and into the gift shop that was overcome by rapidly spreading flames. Smoke rolls through the rear of Elvey's flower shop as four firefighters attack the exterior of the two-story building that included two apartments. McConnellsburg's ladder truck was properly positioned at the scene to attack the blaze that has been determined to have originated from a pellet stove in the greenhouse.
