Friends Of Legal Services To Hold Annual Book Sale

Thousands and thousands of books have already poured in in response to the book drive for the 26th annual Friends of Legal Services book sale, reports Carolyn Carter, a volunteer with the organization. “We thank the community for its tremendous response, and urge everyone to take this opportunity to clean out their bookshelves before our book drive ends on April 19,” she said. She also expressed thanks to the many local businesses and offices that are serving as book donation sites.

The group welcomes new and used books, both hardbound and paperback, as well as magazines dated before 1950, sheet music, maps, audio cassettes, videotapes, and CDs, but not college textbooks, encyclopedias, children’s books printed before 1986, or Reader’s Digest condensed books. Book donation sites are located throughout Franklin, Cumberland, and Adams counties, and can be found at www.fcls.net or by calling Franklin County Legal Services at 717-262-2326.

The sale, south-central Pennsylvania’s largest, will run from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, May 7, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 8, and from noon to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 9, in Laird Hall on the Wilson College campus in Chambersburg. Proceeds benefit local nonprofit organizations that provide legal services to low-income residents and victims of domestic violence.
