FCMC Foundation Board Meets

The board of directors of Fulton County Medical Center Foundation met for its quarterly meeting Monday, March 8, 2010. Issues discussed included the financial report, gifting and granting, image and public relations, campaigns and upcoming events, updates on the new patient services building and the status of the recruitment plan for a new executive director.

The FCMC Foundation Board gifting and granting portion of the meeting included motions to sponsor the following: Shooting Stars majorette group, the MHS senior class party and the Szwydek Memorial 5K Run/Walk.

In other granting news, the health career scholarship timeline was introduced. Applications for the (four) $1,500 health career scholarships will be accepted through April 2, 2010. Scholarship information was sent to all three school districts and an ad will run in The Fulton County News for the remainder of March.

Board secretary/treasurer Loy Garber reported on the meeting between the three local Lions clubs and how FCMCF may be able to assistant them in the promotion of health and wellness in their respective communities. Another meeting is slated for April 12 to continue discussing program and future action steps.

Director of Public Relations and Community Benefit Misty Hershey reported on the current fundraising campaigns. The Continuing the Dream has brought in $40,787 in donations and pledges since December’09. The CAMP Campaign, less expenses and money given to HEAL Africa, amounts to just under $6,500. The “ZOOM ZOOM” Campaign has secured 15 percent of its funding needed, with the proceeds from the annual dinner auction on April 17 held at the Hustontown Firehall going toward that campaign.

Hershey also reported that the Cheryl A. Brown Endowment Fund has received more than $6,300 to date in cash and PTO donations. The fund was set up to aid the FCMC Auxiliary in its fundraising endeavors.

Ms. Cheryl Rose, HR director, reported the recruitment status of the executive director position. There were 50 applicants. The board and staff will be meeting with the final four candidates in the next two weeks.
