Book Sale A benefit book sale will be held May 7-9, 2010, at the 26th annual Friends of Legal Services book sale at Laird Hall on the Wilson College campus in Chambersburg. Silent Auction The Forbes Road Drama Club is having a silent auction/ bake sale to benefit the high school musical ”Grease.” The auction/ bake sale will be held March 25 and 26 from 4-6 p.m. and March 27 from 9 a.m. to noon in the high school auditorium. Some of the items up for bid are Mary Kay Cosmetics, rag quilts, jewelry, photo packages, hair care products, and more.
55-ALIVE Class The AARP Driver Safety Program (55-Alive/Mature Driving) will be offered at Warfordsburg Senior Center on March 25 and 26. Classes are from 9:30 a.m. to noon. Two days of classes are required. Preregister, either in person or by mailing the check payable to AARP for $12 per person AARP members or $14 non-members, to Warfordsburg Senior Center, 209 Long Hollow Rd. Warfordsburg, PA 17267. Completion of the class for those over age 55, will be eligible for the 3- year auto insurance discount. In the event there are two or more over 55 on the policy, all must complete the class. Please be sure to reserve your lunch when registering if interested. Need not be a member of AARP or the senior center to attend the class. There are also no tests involved. Spring Is On The Way Be Prepared! Join in on March 27 from 9 a.m. to noon for a hands-on rain barrel and rain garden workshop at the new Thompson Township Municipal Building. Learn how to make your own rain barrel and harvest water for your garden. The first 10 people to register and pay the $10 materials fee will be able to take a barrel home. Everyone is welcome to attend and learn for free (but no barrel will be provided). Please call the Fulton County Conservation District at 717-485-3547 to register. Free Tax Help and E-Filing Free tax help and E-filing for taxpayers with low or middle income, any age, will be held at Fulton Theatre, behind F&M Bank, McConnellsburg, every Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Volunteers will prepare federal, state, local and rent and property tax rebates. Please bring all of the following: last year’s income tax returns, current year’s tax forms such as W-2s, 1099-Int., 1099-Div., 1099- B, 1099-R, social security, etc. Must have last year’s taxes to be able to E-file. Small Business Nominations Sought The Fulton County Chamber of Commerce and Tourism will hold its annual awards banquet this year. Nominations are being accepted for the Small Business Award. Farmland Preservation Program Fulton County Conservation District will be accepting applications for the Farmland Preservation Program from February 1 to March 31. Landowners interested in the program must complete an application available at the Conservation District Office. All applicants are required to pay a $100, nonrefundable application fee at the time the application is submitted.
