Elbridge C. Narron Jr.

Hagerstown, 87

Elbridge Clinton Narron Jr., 87, Hagerstown, died Thursday, March 4, 2010, at Washington County Hospital in Hagerstown.

Born January 23, 1923, in Smithfield, N.C., he was the son of the late Elbridge C. and Julia (Williams) Narron.

He served in the U.S. Army in Strategic Communications for 20 years and retired from active military service at Fort Bragg, N.C., in 1960. He continued his service in strategic communications as a Department of the Army civilian until retiring from that position in 1978 at Fort Ritchie, Md.

A longtime member of The Presbyterian Church of Hagerstown, he was also a member of Elks Lodge BPOE 378 and the American Legion.

He was preceded in death by his wife, F. Irene (Richardson) Narron; and daughter N. Michelle Thompson.

Surviving are son-in-law Donald E. Thompson, Rockdale, Texas; daughters: Elizabeth K. Partridge and husband Peter, York, Pa., and Katherine A. Reedy and husband Jeffrey, Durham, N.C.; twin sons: John C. Narron and wife Terri, Big Cove Tannery; and James E. Narron, Hagerstown; a son, Richard L. Narron, and wife Diane, Hagerstown; 13 grandchildren: Eddie, Brian and Greg Thompson, Jeff, Chris, Jim and Virginia Partridge, John and Kevin Narron, Elizabeth and Katy Narron, and Ted and Laura Reedy; step-grandchildren: Brandon Light and Leslie Light Bailey; and four great-grandchildren.

Memorial services were held at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 10, at The Presbyterian Church of Hagerstown. Rev. Kyle Powderly officiated. Burial will be at a later date in Smithfield, N.C.
