55-ALIVE Class The AARP Driver Safety Program (55-Alive/Mature Driving) will be offered at Warfordsburg Senior Center on March 25 and 26. Classes are from 9:30 a.m. to noon. Two days of classes are required. Preregister, either in person or by mailing the check payable to AARP for $12 per person AARP members or $14 non-members, to Warfordsburg Senior Center, 209 Long Hollow Rd. Warfordsburg, PA 17267. Completion of the class for those over age 55, will be eligible for the 3- year auto insurance discount. In the event there are two or more over 55 on the policy, all must complete the class. Please be sure to reserve your lunch when registering if interested. Need not be a member of AARP or the senior center to attend the class. There are also no tests involved. Angel Food Ministries March sign-up for Angel Food Ministries will be held at Fulton County Catholic Mission Thursday, March 11 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Saturday, March 13, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. You do not have to order the signature box to order the specails. Income Opportunities for Rural Land Owners Are you a new land owner interested in learning ways to make money with your land? Are you a farmer looking for more profitable crops or livestock to expand your business? Penn State Extension will offer an “Income Opportunities for Rural Land Owners” conference on Saturday, March 13, 2010, at the Southern Fulton High School. The program will start at 9 a.m. and conclude at 3:15 p.m. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. Topics will include produce, livestock, and greenhouse production. In addition, marketing and finance options will be discussed. The fee for the program is $25 per person. This includes refreshments, lunch and materials. Free Tax Help and E-Filing Free tax help and E-filing for taxpayers with low or middle income, any age, will be held at Fulton Theatre, behind F&M Bank, McConnellsburg, every Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Volunteers will prepare federal, state, local and rent and property tax rebates. Please bring all of the following: last year’s income tax returns, current year’s tax forms such as W-2s, 1099-Int., 1099-Div., 1099- B, 1099-R, social security, etc. Must have last year’s taxes to be able to E-file. No business or farms. Have 8 preparers who are certified by the IRS. Any questions call 717-987-3915. No parking on F&M Bank’s parking lot.

Small Business Nominations Sought The Fulton County Chamber of Commerce and Tourism will hold its annual awards banquet this year. Nominations are being accepted for the Small Business award. Anyone wishing to nominate a small business, please see Web site for complete details and the application at info@fultoncountypa.com. Deadline for entries is March 22, 2010.

Farmland Preservation Program Fulton County Conservation District will be accepting applications for the Farmland Preservation Program from February 1 to March 31. Landowners interested in the program must complete an application available at the Conservation District Office. All applicants are required to pay a $100, nonrefundable application fee at the time the application is submitted. All properties must meet the minimum eligibility requirements of the program to be considered for conservation easement purchase.
