Racing Roundup
The 2010 local racing season is supposed to kick off this coming weekend but as of this writing on Sunday night, one track has already canceled, and I can’t believe the other is too far behind.
Lincoln Speedway announced last week that it would postpone its season-opening Icebreaker 30 for 410 Sprints until Saturday, March 6 due to the remaining snow that covers the area.
Hagerstown Speedway still has green lights on its Web site as of Sunday, so I guess they are expecting to open as usual this Saturday with the Modifieds and Late Models. But before heading out, I’d call or check the Web site to verify they are racing.
The World of Outlaws Sprints are back in action this Friday night at the Dirt Track at Las Vegas and from what we know, Fred Rahmer and Daryn Pittman (Keen 17) are both headed to Vegas and will remain on the Outlaw tour for the next three weeks.
Depending on the snow melt, Port Royal Speedway plans to open on March 14, with Williams Grove Speedway opening March 19 as well as Selinsgrove Speedway. We will need some warm days and sun and wind to melt and then dry up the saturated grounds.
Nothing else really going on so we’ll keep it short this week. So until next time, e-mail reaches me at Bvores@comcast.net.
