Harrisonville Woman Waives Right To Hearing

A Harrisonville woman waived her right to a preliminary hearing in Franklin County on February 9. Twenty-three-yearold Ashley Fix is charged with 33 counts of criminal conspiracy in connection with a series of burglaries of rental storage units at Affordable Storage on Loudon Street, Chambersburg, on January 22. Mandatory arraignment has been set for March 24.

Warfordsburg Man Cited For DUI

A Warfordsburg man was cited with driving under the influence following a nonreportable crash in neighboring Bedford County on January 29. According to state police in Bedford, 53-year-old Bobby Stotler crashed into a 2005 Honda Pilot at the intersection of business Route 30 and Lincoln Highway in West Providence Township at 3:30 p.m. Stotler was taken to UPMC Bedford Memorial following the crash on suspicion of driving under the influence.

Truck Overturns

An eastbound 2006 Ford F- 150 spun into an embankment twice before overturning along Interstate 70 onto its drivers side. Brian O. Waters, 22, of Guyton, Ga., was not injured during the Monday, February 15, crash at 4:41 p.m. He was wearing a seat belt, state police reported.

Social Security Number Used

The Social Security number of a 40-year-old Wells Tannery man was used to gain employment in Columbus, Ohio, on Tuesday, February 16, at 2:23 p.m. The case of identity theft remains open and under investigation by state police officials.

McConnellsburg Man Faced With Harassment Charges

A 24-year-old McConnellsburg man is faced with charges of harassment following an altercation at 210 East Walnut Street, McConnellsburg Borough, on Tuesday, February 16. According to state police, Justin Lee Guyer allegedly argued with and shoved a 54-year-old Mc- Connellsburg man onto a couch at 11 p.m. Charges against Guyer have been filed through Magisterial District Judge Wendy Mellott.

Three Springs Man Uninjured

A Three Springs man was uninjured when his northbound vehicle struck an embankment along South Madden Road in Taylor Township last Thursday morning. State police reported that at 2:50 a.m. on February 18, 18-year-old Brett D. Knepper lost control of his 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier, which struck an embankment and flipped onto its roof. Police added the roadway was partially covered with drifting snow at the time of the Taylor Township accident near the intersection of Drifting Lane.

Knepper was wearing a seat belt. He will be charged by state police with driving too fast for roadway conditions.

Two Vehicles Collide

Two vehicles collided along Great Cove Road near the War- fordsburg exit of Interstate 70 on Monday, February 15. State police did not release the names of either driver, but did note the 2010 Prius was travelling too fast for roadway conditions when it ran a stop sign at 3 p.m. and struck the other vehicle. The driver will be charged with driving too fast for roadway conditions.

RV Damaged

A 1978 Dodge Itasca RV was struck multiple times with a BB gun while parked near an alley behind the 600 block of Lincoln Way East between 4 p.m. on February 7 and 3 p.m. on February 18. Damage to the RV belonging to a 42-year-old McConnellsburg man has been estimated at $200. Man Arrested For Assault

Kevin Lynn Strait of Warfordsburg was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Wendy Mellott on charges of simple assault following an alleged physical altercation at 566 Franklin Mills Road on Thursday, February 18. Bail was set at $25,000.

According to state police, the fight between Strait, 36, and a 37-year-old Warfordsburg area woman occurred at 10:05 p.m. Strait reportedly strangled the woman before hitting her in the head and abdomen several times. State police added Strait also kicked the woman in both knees and her left shin. Following the fight, he is accused of grabbing a towel and a lighter and threatening to burn down the Bethel Township residence.

Intoxicated Man Found On Roadway

A Hustontown man is accused of staggering and stumbling across Route 30 while in an intoxicated state on Sunday, February 21, just east of the intersection of Lincoln Way East. State police reported 49-year-old Timothy Mellott was found along the Ayr Township roadway at 2:26 p.m. They reported he was unable to answer basic questions and had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage as well as bloodshot eyes. He currently faces charges of public drunkenness.

Crystal Spring Man Charged With Unlawful Restraint

A Crystal Spring man was lodged in the Franklin County Prison last Friday in lieu of $25,000 after he allegedly unlawfully restrained a woman at a residence located at 14457 Old 126. Herbert Gene Carter, 27, was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Carol Jean Johnson on various charges, including unlawful restraint, false imprisonment, simple assault and harassment.

According to state police, Carter was involved in a domestic dispute at 6 a.m. with a 24- year-old woman, who was allegedly grabbed, shoved and pushed to the ground. The woman was also prevented from leaving the Brush Creek Township residence.

Utility Pole Struck

A utility pole and a set of guide wires for a second utility pole were struck by a 1985 Toyota on Sunday, February 21, along Timber Ridge Road, state police reported. Driver Sterling W. Wills, 18, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., was not injured during the 5:15 p.m. accident just north of Johnsons Mill Road in Thompson Township. He will be charged with driving a vehicle at safe speeds.

DUI Charges To Be Filed

Charges of driving under the influence and related offenses are scheduled to be filed through Magisterial District Judge Devin Horne in connection with a single vehicle accident along Route 30 at the intersection of Patterson Run Road.

State police said the Saturday, February 20, crash occurred when Breezewood resident Daniel M. Barnes, 53, rounded a curve in the Licking Creek Township roadway at a high rate of speed. Barnes’ 2002 Pontiac Grand Am spun into a set of guiderails and an embankment.

Barnes was not wearing a seat belt in the 5:35 p.m. accident. He sustained moderate injuries. In addition to charges of drunk driving, he will be charged with driving a vehicle at safe speeds.
