1 Dead In Collision With Penna. Bus

ZIEGLERVILLE, Pa. (AP) – One person is dead after the vehicle he was riding in collided with a school bus near a suburban Philadelphia middle school.

Lower Fredrick police Officer Roland Walker says 27-year-old Richard Taylor of Gilbertsville died in the crash Wednesday morning near Perkiomen Valley Middle School in Zieglerville, about 30 miles northwest of Philadelphia.

Five of the 45 students aboard the bus sustained minor injuries but were checked out by the school nurse and proceeded to school.

Walker says the driver of the car, 41-year-old Freddy Carroll, was airlifted to a hospital. The bus driver, Fredrick Proust III, was unhurt.

Police say a preliminary investigation indicates the bus turned in front of the car while trying to pull into the school.

The accident remains under investigation.
