PHILADELPHIA (AP) – Police in Philadelphia used spike strips to stop an ambulance that was reported stolen and arrest the driver.
State and city police stopped the ambulance around 9 a.m. Thursday on the Schuylkill Expressway as it headed out of the city. The driver was arrested without incident.
Authorities say the ambulance was reported stolen from a kidney dialysis center in North Philadelphia about a half-hour earlier.
The pursuit backed up rush hour traffic on the expressway, a main artery in and out of the city.
