Ralph H. Mellott
Ralph H. Mellott, 75, Needmore, died Tuesday, February 9, 2010, at Chambersburg Hospital.
He was born in Licking Creek township, February 13, 1934, the son of the late Stanley B. and Ruth B. (Winters) Mellott. He was the widower of Vada M. (Davis) Mellott, whom he married November 28, 1957. She passed away December 17, 2009.
He served in the U.S. Navy as a GM3 during the Korean War, was a member of the American Legion Post 561 of McConnellsburg, the VFW Post 655 of Mc- Connellsburg, VFW Post 2088 of Everett, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 4274, and had worked at E.D. Plummers in Chambersburg.
He is survived by sons: L. Lee Mellott, Harrisonville; Stanley E. Mellott, Needmore; daughters: Barbara A. Bakner, Needmore; Brenda Sue Deal, Dothan, Ala.; sisters: Susan Bottenfield, Needmore; Edith Rhoades, St. Thomas; brother Marvin Mellott, Martinsburg, Pa.; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren and five stepgreat grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Charles R. Mellott; a brother, Dean Mellott; and grandchildren: Justin and Randy Mellott.
Memorial services were held Sunday, February 14, at 1:00 p.m., at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home Inc., Harrisonville. Rev. William Swope officiated. Burial was private and at the convenience of the family.
Military services were conducted by Fulton Honor Guard.
