Hilda “Vi” Bowers, 95, Hancock, died Saturday, February 13, 2010, at her home.
Born August 30, 1914, in Fulton County, she was the daughter of the late Jacob Elmer and Harriet Alice Helper Powell, and the widow of Charles William Bowers, who died in 1966 and whom she married March 28, 1937, in Middletown, Md.
She retired in 1980 as a supervisor from Londontown Manufacturing, formerly in Hancock.
She attended Warfordsburg Presbyterian Church and was a member of the OES, Hancock.
She is survived by a daughter, Joyce Fritz, Hancock; one sister, Naomi Rummel, Mount Vernon, Ohio; one granddaughter, Danielle Kann; one grandson, Jarrin White; three stepgrandsons: Rod, Allen and Tyler Fritz; and a great-grandson, Benjamin Kann.
She was preceded in death by three sisters: Opal Seavolt, Louise Seavolt and Margaret Apple; and six brothers: Stanley, Floyd, Carl, Donald, Henry and Johnny Powell.
Services were held Wednesday, February 17, at 11:00 a.m., at Warfordsburg Presbyterian Church. Rev. Edward Blank officiated. Burial was made in Greenlawn Memorial Park in Williamsport, Md.
