Suspect’s Fatal Leap After Drug Arrest Probed

MOUNT LEBANON, Pa. (AP) – Authorities in western Pennsylvania are investigating the death of an Ohio woman who jumped 35 feet into a hospital parking lot as she was being escorted to jail after a drug arrest.

Officials say 28-year-old Jessica Tucker of East Sparta, Ohio, died at 9:30 p.m. Tuesday after breaking away from a Bridgeville police officer and leaping over a retraining wall in the parking lot at St. Clair Hospital in the Pittsburgh suburb of Mt. Lebanon.

Lt. Aaron Lauth says officials are talking to witnesses to try to determine Tucker’s state of mind at the time. He says he does not know whether she had been handcuffed.

Police say they arrested Tucker and are seeking a man and woman from Ohio after finding a suspected methamphetamine lab.
