Aid To Israel Could Provide Plenty Of Healthcare

To The Editor:

In August 2007 the U.S. and Israel signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) outlining a 10-year (fiscal years 2009 – 2018) U.S. military aid package to Israel totaling $30 billion. In other words, between 2009 and 2018 we will be giving $30 billion in military aid alone to Israel.

How does this affect you? Breaking this figure down state by state, this money could have provided 1,032,659 Pennsylvanians per year with primary healthcare.

This figure of $30 billion has been verified by the U.S. State Department under the Freedom of Information Act. The state-by-state figures were calculated by breaking down IRS and U.S. Census Bureau statistics. Keep in mind this figure ($30 billion) is for military aid alone and does not include humanitarian aid.

On a totally different note I would like to personally thank Jack and Kathie Hendricks for their role in attempting to secure healthcare for all Pennsylvanians via the Family and Business Healthcare Security Act. Fulton County should be quite proud of the wonderful work they are doing.
