The All-Star Circuit of Champions Sprint cars were in action at Volusia Speedway Park last Wednesday and Thursday night, where Craig Dollansky and Joey Saldana picked up feature wins.
Dollansky won the first night over Saldana, Donny Schatz, Steve Kinser and Stevie Smith with Lucas Wolfe, Daryn Pittman, Jason Meyers, Lance Dewease and Sam Hafertepe the top-10 finishers.
Saldana came out on top of a thriller on Thursday over Dollansky, Kinser, Wolfe, Hafertepe, Smith, Danny Lasoski, Meyers, Tim Kaeding and Dale Blaney.
The World of Outlaws was scheduled to kick off three nights of action at VSP on Friday, but Mother Nature decided she would interrupt for the night.
Saturday night, it was all Donny Schatz taking his 101st career World of Outlaws feature and first of the season as he dominated the 30-lap feature in his win over Joey Saldana, Steve Kinser, Jason Meyers, Tim Shaffer, Kraig Kinser, Lucas Wolfe, Lance Dewease, Jason Sides and Mark Smith.
The Outlaws concluded its VSP stand on Sunday night when Steve Kinser scored his first win for Tony Stewart Motorsports over Joey Saldana, Danny Lasoski, Donny Schatz, Tim Kaeding, Jason Meyers, Craig Dollansky, Terry McCarl, Jason Sides and Paul McMahan.
Sprint car racer Cody Darrah was injured in a highway crash Saturday as he and his family were heading to Daytona to watch NASCAR qualifying. Darrah, who was slated to start his rookie WoO season with Kasey Kahne Racing on Saturday nigh,t underwent surgery on a shattered leg and will be out of action for some time. Get well wishes go out to Cody for a speedy recovery.
