FCMC Announces New Director
FCMC is proud to announce the addition of its new director of rehabilitation services, Shannon Showalter, MPT, MBA, FACHE. Showalter is highly educated and possesses several degrees including Bachelor of Health Science and a Master of Physical Therapy from the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia and Master of Business Administration from Salisbury University in Maryland. He also brings extensive experience managing multiple rehabilitation facilities and previously was vice president of operations for a rehabilitation services company based in Delaware. He also has served as an accreditation and licensing compliance officer for Beebe Medical Center in Delaware and was an examiner for the Delaware Quality Award.
Showalter recently became a Board Certified Healthcare Executive and Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, the nation’s leading professional society for healthcare leaders. Fellow status represents achievement of the highest standard of professional development. In fact, only 7,500 healthcare executives hold this distinction. To obtain Fellow status, candidates must fulfill multiple requirements, including passing a comprehensive examination, meeting academic and experiential criteria, earning continuing education credits and demonstrating professional/ community involvement.
At FCMC, Showalter will provide leadership and coordinate activities, human resources and marketing/strategic plans for rehabilitation services across all areas of service to include cardiac rehab, physical, occupational and speech therapy to outpatient, acute/swing bed, longterm care, and home-care clients. He looks forward to facilitating partnerships between physicians, staff and the facility in order to accomplish Fulton County Medical Center’s mission, vision, core values and goals. Showalter stated, “I am eager to contribute to the exceptional services provided at FCMC and excited to have the opportunity to work with an organization that is committed to providing highquality services to their patients and community.”
Showalter is excited to return to the area and be near his family in He attended Everett Area High School and graduated from Chestnut Ridge High School, where he was an accomplished athlete. He continues to remain active and is a seven-time Ironman finisher with plans to complete Ironman Lake Placid this year.
