Area Woman Cited For Retail Theft

Twenty-six-year-old Mc- Connellsburg resident Tiffany Marie Hopkins has been cited through Magisterial District Judge Wendy Mellott for the felony offense of retail theft. Hopkins was allegedly observed hiding store merchandise on herself while shopping at Family Dollar Store on Tuesday, January 26. Hopkins then walked through the checkout at 9:15 a.m. without paying for the items.

Big Cove Tannery Man Uninjured

A Big Cove Tannery man was uninjured after his 2001 Honda Accord ran off Heavenly Acres Ridge Road, struck a metal post and travelled through a culvert damaging its undercarriage. Corey A. Hann’s car then proceeded through a flowerbed where it dislodged numerous rocks.

Hann was wearing a seat belt. He will be cited with driving on roadways laned for traffic and accidents involving damage to unattended vehicle or property in connection with the January 20 6:30 p.m. accident.

Truck Strikes Utility Pole

A southbound 1998 Ford F- 150 struck a utility pole along Route 522 near the intersection of Meadow Lane on Tuesday, January 26, according to state police. The crash occurred when Cassidy Gracey failed to make a turn into a private driveway at 10 p.m. Gracey was wearing a seat belt and was not injured.

Tires Squealed, DUI Arrest Made

The tires on a vehicle driven by Jeffrey H. Heffner, 41, of Mc- Connellsburg were allegedly squealed when pulling out of the intersection of Route 16 and Lincoln Way East on Wednesday, January 27, at 11:52 p.m. A vehicle stop revealed Heffner was found to be driving under the influence.

Vehicle Windows Damaged

McConnellsburg Man Faces Assault Charges

Thirty-three-year-old Aaron Boyd Myers of McConnellsburg has been charged with terroristic threats, simple assault and harassment through the office of Magisterial District Judge Wendy Mellott. According to state police, Myers argued with a 23-year-old McConnellsburg woman at 917 Dogwood Lane in Todd Township on Tuesday, January 26. During the fight between 9:30 p.m. and 11:15 p.m., Myers allegedly became physical, punching the victim multiple times in the head and face.

Bench Warrant Issued

A bench warrant was issued for the arrest of a Wells Tannery man last week after he failed to appear for a preliminary hearing in Bedford County. Thirty-yearold Kyle Dwayne Barton reportedly faces charges of possession or use of drug paraphernalia after he was arrested by state police at 8:30 p.m. on August 22, 2009, along Six Mile Run Road in Broad Top Township. Barton was picked up at that time for public drunkenness.

iPod Missing

A 19-year-old McConnellsburg man reported to state police his ipod Nano was stolen from his car parked in the Giant parking lot on June 1, 2009. The device has been valued at $125. Argument Leads To Assault Charges

A verbal argument eventually led to physical contact and simple assault charges against a 19-year-old Needmore man. Joshua Gordon Hall allegedly engaged in physical contact with a 16-year-old Warfordsburg area girl during a fight at 12941 Buck Valley Road, Warfordsburg, on Saturday, January 23, at 10:30 p.m. The victim suffered injuries during the assault. Hall will be charged through Magisterial District Judge Carol Jean Johnson.

McConnellsburg Man Makes Threats

Eighteen-year-old Travis Allen Lease of McConnellsburg has been charged with terroristic threats and harassment as a result of what state police called a “heated argument” at the Sheetz convenience store on Friday, January 22. Lease reportedly argued with a 36-year-old man from McConnellsburg at 4:21 p.m. and allegedly threatened to shoot a 14-year-old Mc- Connellsburg boy as well as their residence.

Car Hits Light Pole

A westbound 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier crashed into a light pole along the berm of Interstate 70 on Saturday, January 30, according to state police. Courtney N. Hutchinson, 21, of Williamsport, Md., lost control of her vehicle at 11:45 a.m. She was wearing a seat belt and escaped harm. Hutchinson will be charged with driving on roadways laned for traffic.

Tools Stolen

A storage lot located at 20343 Great Cove Road, McConnellsburg, was broken into between 6 p.m. on December 28 and 1 p.m. on January 28. Tools, car keys, a portable generator and a portable car charger were taken from the storage building. Door Missing

A steel door with stained glass was stolen from a storage shed at old Southern Fulton High School between January 23 and January 25. The door has been valued at $300. Eggs Thrown

Eggs were thrown at a vehicle parked along Brooklyn Drive, McConnellsburg, between 12:30 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. on Sunday, January 31. Victim is a 23-yearold McConnellsburg man, who estimated damage to his vehicle at $30. Vehicle Strikes Embankment

An Everett man was not injured when his eastbound 1992 Dynasty struck an embankment along Interstate 70. Ronald S. Curtis, 59, was wearing a seat belt when the 1:34 p.m. accident occurred in Bethel Township on Saturday, January 30. Curtis will be charged by state police with driving on roadways laned for traffic.

Theft From Vehicle Investigated

Thieves took multiple items from an unlocked 2008 Ford Fusion parked at 203 Pyle Drive, McConnellsburg, between 6 p.m. on January 23 and 6 a.m. on January 24. Among the items stolen from the 32-year-old McConnellsburg woman were $93 in cash, a book of stamps and a silver Sony MP3 player. DUI Charges Filed

Charges of driving under the influence have been filed through Magisterial District Judge Devin Horne against Melissa Sue Mellott, 27, of Mc- Connellsburg. Mellott was ini- tially stopped by state police for an alleged traffic violation along Route 30 on Sunday, January 31, at 12:45 a.m.

License Plate Removed

A Pennsylvania license plate bearing the registration number YME6892 was removed from a 1998 Nissan truck parked at 205 Lincoln Way East, McConnellsburg, between 9 a.m. on January 31 and 8 a.m. on February 1. The truck was parked outside the residence of the 57-year-old male victim. Accident On Snow-Covered Road Investigated

State police, Chambersburg, investigated a single-vehicle accident along a snow-covered Grant Shook Road in Antrim Township, Franklin County, over the weekend. Fifty-eight-yearold McConnellsburg resident Patricia S. Hendricks lost control of her northbound Buick Regal while rounding a curve. The car went onto the berm, down an embankment and rolled onto its side. Hendricks was not injured in the Saturday, January 30, 3:42 p.m. crash.
