Mary G. Picking
Mrs. Mary G. (Geyer) Picking, 80, Greencastle, Pa., died at 5:30 p.m., Friday, January 29, 2010, at Chambersburg Hospital.
Born July 29, 1929, in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late Clarence B. and Blanche S. (Horne) Geyer. She spent her early years in Chambersburg.
She and her husband, George M. Picking, were married on october 11, 1947, and moved to their present residence in 1962. They formerly resided in Williamson, Pa. He died October 1, 1992.
In her early years, she was employed as a soler by the former Sylvania Shoe Co., Greencastle.
She was a member of Greencastle Baptist Church and attended Otterbein Church, Waynesboro. She enjoyed puzzles and time spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by four daughters: Judy A. Helman, Waynesboro; Donna J. Beltz, Strasburg, Pa.; Brenda K. Wallech, Greencastle; S. Kim Gordon, Greencastle; four sons: Kenneth L. Picking, Chambersburg; Roger L. Picking, Chambersburg; Michael L. Picking, Waynesboro; Steven C. Picking, Mercersburg; 18 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; four sisters: Helen Statler, Chambersburg; Joyce Runyon, Chambersburg; Beverly Jean Stevenson, Colorado; Doris Knepper, Hustontown; five brothers: Glenn Geyer, Chambersburg; Dean Geyer, Chambersburg; Gerald Geyer, St. Thomas; Garnet Geyer, Florida; Ronald Geyer, Chambersburg; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son: Larry L. Picking; a great-grandson, Andrew Wallech; and five sisters: Evelyn Querry, Irene Baker, Erma Johns, Pearl Poe and Pauline Miller.
Services were held at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 2, in Miller-Bowersox Funeral Home, Greencastle. Rev. Gayle L. Ruble Sr., officiated. Burial was made in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Greencastle.
