Bertie W. Sipe, 93, formerly of Mercersburg, died Thursday, January 28, 2010, in Menno Haven Nursing Center, Chambersburg.

Born May 5, 1916, in Clear Ridge, she was a daughter of the late Bert and Lou Kerlin Winegardner.

She was employed at Mercersburg Academy for 20 years.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Mercersburg where she was a 45- year choir member and charter member of Fulton Chapter of Order of Eastern Star of Mc- Connellsburg.

Her husband, Guy R. Sipe, died June 2, 1998.

Surviving are a daughter, Doris J. (Mrs. Gail) Knight, Frankfort, Ill.; four grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Memorial services were held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, January 31, in the chapel of Menno Haven. Private interment was made in Union Cemetery.

Lininger-Fries Funeral Home Inc., Mercersburg, was in charge of arrangements.
