SpecialQuest Birth–Five Vision

States and local communities, including Early Head Start and Head Start programs and their community partners, collaborate to provide high-quality, inclusive services for young children with disabilities and their families. This work is supported by embedding the SpecialQuest approach, materials, and resources into professional development and service systems.

School registration dates

Forbes Road School District: 814-685-3865 – Redbirds –Feb. 24 and 25; kindergarten – March 2. Kindergarten registration is for any child who did not attend Redbirds.

Southern Fulton School District: 717-294-3400; Pre- K – March 4 and 5; Kindergarten – Feb. 25 and 26.

Central Fulton School District: 717-485-4438 – K4 and K5 – March 18, 19, 22, and 23.

All children registering for pre-K or K in Fulton County schools are provided with school readiness kits that include materials specifically chosen to encourage skill building in the areas of literacy and mathematics.

Family to School: all families registering children for pre-K or K are provided with parent education materials informing them of strategies to ensure school success;

All families registering children for pre-K or K are provided with a “going to school” booklet. This book is designed to ease the anxiety for children entering school for the first time.

FCCF preschool age childcare has maintained a Keystone STARS II;

School faculty has assisted CC staff in developing activities and materials to use in the CC Center to help with the orientation process.

During WOYC (Week Of the Young Child), local community members volunteered to read at childcare centers, homecare providers and elementary schools to read PA One Book “If You Were a Penguin.”

Partnering with the LICC, the first annual “Kids Fest” was introduced to Fulton County. It was held at Southern Fulton Elementary, free and open to the public. Twelve local agencies provided fun activities and/or healthy snacks for the children.
