Funeral Held For 1 Of 3 In SUV That Went Into Pond
ZELIENOPLE, Pa. (AP) – A volunteer firefighter killed along with two other youths when their sport utility vehicle overturned in an icy western Pennsylvania pond has been laid to rest.
Firetrucks escorted the body of 18-year-old Sam Bucci to a cemetery in Zelienople on Saturday after about 300 people attended a funeral service.
The Rev. Bill Glassman said Bucci had “a gentle, loving, caring heart” and treasured his fire department colleagues.
Services are scheduled Monday for 17-year-old Trevor Barkley and Tuesday for 18-yearold Elijah Lunsford. Bucci and Lunsford were members of the Zelienople Volunteer Fire Department, and Barkley was their Seneca Valley High School classmate.
Investigators say it appears the SUV flipped upside down into the pond, from which their bodies were recovered Wednesday.
