The predictions are that Punxsutawney Phil will see his shadow on Tuesday, February 2, which means six more weeks of winter. I imagine we will have that anyway. Everyone always welcomes spring.

Guest speaker at Knobsville United Methodist Church on Sunday was Richard Mellott on behalf of the Gideons.

Hustontown Area Volunteer Fire Co. will sponsor a shooting match with a 410 shoot only on Saturday, February 6, beginning at 1:00 p.m. First- and second place prizes will be awarded.

Hustontown Area Volunteer Fir Co.. will sponsor a food auction on Friday, February 12 at 6:00 p.m. The kitchen will open at 5:00 p.m. Frozen foods, snacks and miscellaneous items will be auctioned off. You can support the fire company and enjoy the evening.

Gregg Raumbaugh and Herbert Berkstresser spent the weekend in Michigan at a bow shoot.

A nice crowd attended the auction on Thursday evening at the auction building on Rt. 522. They have auctions on Thursday evenings, unless otherwise announced, starting at 5:00 p.m.

We hear Richard Boden has been a patient at Fulton County Medical Center. Hope he will be able to return home soon.

Our sympathy is extended to the family and relatives of Bill Parsons, who passed away last week.

Household hint: Never fail frosting – In mixing bowl beat with an electric mixer 3 ounces softened cream cheese, 2 tablespoons softened butter or oleo, add 1/2 teaspoon vanilla. Beat until smooth then gradually beat in two cups sifted confectioner’s sugar. Covers an 8- or 9-inch round cake.
