Special Services At Mt. Zion
“Love Thy Neighbor Day” will be observed on Sunday, February 14, at Mt. Zion Lutheran Church of Little Cove for the purpose of receiving monetary donations for the Frank Shuey family of 8450 Ward Drive, Mercersburg.
The family of four, parents and two adult sons lost their home and possessions in an afternoon fire on December 29. Area fire companies responded to the fire call, however, due to cold temperatures and high winds, were unable to save the home but did salvage a portion of garage nearby. Reconstruction has begun to covert the garage into living area. The area Red Cross chapter has assisted the Shuey family with limited funds.
Mt. Zion Church Council has set up a special fund for the family. The new pastor, Rev. Christopher W. Martin, invites persons interested in participating in “Love Thy Neighbor Day” to bring their donation to the morning church service, at 11:30 a.m., located on Little Cove Road, Mercersburg. Donations of checks payable to Mt. Zion Lutheran Church may be sent to treasurer Helen Rank, 2511 Fort Loudon Road, Mercersburg. A goal of $1,500 has been set, with Franklin Fulton Chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans providing additional $500 supplemental funds.
