Mottern, Pollock Going To States
On January 24, 2010, at the Lancaster Family YMCA, Olivia Mottern, daughter of Carolyn and Brian Mottern of Warfordsburg, and Sarrah Pollock, daughter of Michele and Joe Pollock of McConnellsburg placed first in the South Central District Elks Hoop Shoot competition. Carolyn in the 10-11yr. old girls division, shot 18 out of 25, and Sarrah, in the 12-13-year-old girls division, shot 21 out of 25 to attain the 2010 championship title. Olivia and Sarrah will represent the South Central District and Chambersburg Lodge #600 in the Pennsylvania state competition on March 6, 2010, at State College.
Kierstyn Morton, daughter of Kelly and Allen Morton of Needmore, placed second in the 8-9-year-old girls division. Landon Richards, son of Megan Peck and Thomas Richards of McConnellsburg placed third in the 12-13-yearold boys division. Donovan Garlock, son of Hollie and Jason of McConnellsburg, placed fourth in the 8-9-year-old boys division, and Christopher Wurtz, son of Lisa and Richard of Chambersburg, placed fourth in the 10-11-year-old division.
This year a booster and a good luck page will be added to the state program. If anyone would like to wish Olivia or Sarrah good luck by placing a good luck ad or becoming a booster in this year’s program should mail an ad or booster name and check to Steven Lucas, State Hoop Shoot chairman, Rd. 1 Box 593, Tyrone, PA 16686. The cost to be a booster (your name) is $5 and $10 for the good luck ad (example Good Luck, Olivia and Sarrah, Chambersburg Lodge # 600). Deadline for ads is February 8, 2010. Chambersburg Lodge #600 wins South Central District
On January 24, 2010, at Lancaster Family YMCA, Chambersburg Lodge #600 won the South Central District Elks Hoop Shooting Competition with 104 points. Lebanon Lodge #631 placed second with 94 points and Hanover Lodge #763 placed third with 75 points.
Chambersburg Lodge #600 would like to thank and congratulate their six shooters: Kierstyn Morton, Donovan Garlock, Olivia Mottern, Christopher Wurtz, Sarrah Pollock and Landon Richards on an outstanding job.
