Alcohol Could Be Factor In Crash
State police, McConnellsburg, reported alcohol use may have been a factor in a singlevehicle crash near the intersection of Buck Valley and Negro Mountain roads over the weekend.
According to reports, 37-yearold Artemas resident Mark Allen Smith lost control of his westbound 1990 Chevrolet 1500 on Sunday, January 17. The truck struck an embankment before overturning at 12:07 a.m. Smith sustained moderate injuries and was transported to Fulton County Medical Center for treatment. State police are continuing to investigate the crash.
State police seized a gun, which had the manufacturer’s number scratched off, during an investigation involving Brock Bivens, 21, McConnellsburg, on Monday, January 11, at a location in Ayr Township. Charges have been filed against Bivens in connection with the 9 p.m. incident.
Car Strikes Pole
Two Fulton County residents escaped injury when their southbound 1999 Mercury Cougar struck a utility pole along Route 522. Kenneth W. Trail, 20, of Needmore lost control of his vehicle after the steering system allegedly locked up, according to state police.
Trail and passenger Shnella Burke, 21, of McConnellsburg were both wearing seat belts during the 6:05 a.m. accident in Ayr Township. Trail has been charged with driving on roadways laned for traffic.
Autopsy Results Released
State police have released the autopsy results of a Mc- Connellsburg man who was found by his friends deceased in his 211 Lincoln Way East apartment at on October 31, 2009. Results indicate 45-year-old John T. Shook died as a result of natural causes.
A 1995 Chevrolet Geo Metro overturned along Route 30 in Licking Creek Township, leaving its 17-year-old female driver with minor injuries. The girl, who was from McConnellsburg, was wearing a seat belt and will be cited by state police with driving on roadways laned for traffic in connection with the January 15 accident at 8:05 a.m. Her car was removed from the roadway by a passing motorist, and she was transported to Fulton County Medical Center by family. Two Cited For Tobacco Possession
Two male juveniles were cited for the possession and use of tobacco on school grounds for a discovery that was made on Friday, January 15. The 14-year-old male and the 15-year-old male were found by school administrators at noon in possession of tobacco at McConnellsburg High School.
