Friends Of Legal Services Group Sets Book Drive Dates

The Franklin County Friends of Legal Services group has set the week of Februrary 22 as the start of the book drive for its 26th annual book sale. The book drive will run through April 19. “Look for the book donation boxes in stores, banks and offices throughout the area starting the week of February 22,” said Carolyn Carter, a volunteer with the organization.

The book donation sites will be announced in early February. In the meantime, anyone with a large quantity of books to donate can make special arrangements by calling Franklin County Legal Services at 717-262-2326 or by emailing gkeener@fcls.net.

The sale itself will take place on Mother’s Day weekend at Laird Hall on the Wilson College campus in Chambersburg. The sale will run from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, May 7, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 8, and from noon to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 9. The groups expects to offer more than 50,000 books of all types at bargain prices, plus maps, sheet music, audiotapes, CDs, and videotapes. Proceeds benefit local nonprofit organizations that provide legal services to low-income residents and victims of domestic violence.
