SF Kindergarten Registration Southern Fulton School District will be having kindergarten registration on February 25 and 26. Anyone having a child who will be 5 years old before September 1, 2010, should call the school at 717-294-3400 to schedule an appointment.

Free Tax Help and E-Filing Free tax help and E-filing for taxpayers with low or middle income, any age will be held at Fulton Theatre, behind F&M Bank, McConnellsburg, every Wednesday beginning February 3, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Volunteers will prepare federal, state, local and rent and property tax rebates. Please bring all of the following: last year’s income tax returns, current year’s tax forms such as W-2s, 1099- Int., 1099-Div., 1099-B, 1099-R, social security, etc. Must have last year’s taxes to be able to E-file. No business or farms. Have 8 preparers who are certified by the IRS. Any questions call 717-987-3915. No parking on F&M Bank’s parking lot.

Shuster Staff To Hold Office Hours Members of Congressman Bill Shuster’s district staff will hold office hours in Fulton County this Friday. On Friday, January 15, staff will hold office hours in Big Cove Tannery from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Thompson Township building located at 4526 Timber Ridge Road. Afternoon hours will be from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. On January 15, Shuster’s staff will hold office hours in McConnellsburg in the Fulton County Library Community Room located at 227 North First Street in McConnellsburg. These office hours are an opportunity for residents of Fulton County to meet with members of Congressman Shuster’s district staff to discuss issues related to the federal government like Social Security and veterans affairs. Constituents with questions about office hours are encouraged to call Congressman Shuster’s Hollidaysburg office toll-free at 1-800- 854-3035.

Hudson Fundraiser A fundraiser for Justin Hudson, who is battling cancer for the second time, sponsored by the Cub Scout Pack 43, will be held on Saturday, January 30, at Cito Fellowship Hall. Soup made over an open fire will be sold by the quart and half-quart from noon to 3:00 p.m. A baked goods auction will be held at 1:00 p.m. with donations accepted. The community is asked to participate in order to assist Justin and his family with medical costs. One hundred percent of the proceeds will go to Justin.

Winter Workshop Series Penn State Cooperative Extension presents winter workshop series at Fulton County Library on Saturday, February 6, 2010, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.: Intro to Gardening with the Penn State Master Gardeners. Cost is $15 for materials and supplies. Also on Saturday, February 13, 2010, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.: Stitch by Stitch Beginner Sewing for Kids. Cost is $10 for materials and supplies. Saturday, February 20, 2010, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.: Safe Sitter Class for ages 10-15. Cost is $10 for materials and supplies.

Electronics Collection Recycle unwanted computer and electronics equipment. This event is an opportunity to dispose of obsolete/ unwanted electronics equipment in an environmentally sound way. It will be held Saturday, January 16 and 23, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at 610 E. North Street, McConnellsburg (beside American Legion). Continued collection dates are January 18-22, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Fulton County Conservation District Office, 216 North Second Street, McConnellsburg. Drop off personal computers, laptops, mainframe computers, hard drives, circuit boards, printers, modems, answering machines, CD players, DVD players, VCRs, cellphones, copiers, electronic games, fax machines, pagers, PDAs, radios, etc. Not accepted are televisions, microwaves, small kitchen appliances, batter- ies, lamps, vacuum cleaners, irons, fluorescent tubes and bulbs.
