Steven Ellis Swadley, 47, Big Cove Tannery, died Saturday, January 2, 2010, at Washington County Hospital in Hagerstown.

Born July 5, 1962, in Mc- Connellsburg, he was the son of Robert E. and Shirley A. Litton Swadley of Big Cove Tannery.

He was a 1980 graduate of Southern Fulton High School.

He was employed with B. Equip Inc., in farm machinery sales, and he was a self-employed farmer.

He was a member and served as a trustee of Damascus Christian Church, Big Cove Tannery.

Besides his parents, he is survived by his wife, Betty J. Grosh Swadley, whom he married September 29, 1988, at Damascus Christian Church; two sons: Benjamin Homer Swadley and wife Olivia Hope Swadley, Big Cove Tannery; Matthew Steven Swadley, at home; a sister, Kathi A. Shreve, and husband Kenneth T. Shreve, McConnellsburg; grandmother Violet R. Swadley of Needmore; and a granddaughter, Grace Hope Swadley.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, January 16, at 11:00 a.m., at Damascus Christian Church. Rev. E. Loy Garber will officiate. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
