Brian Mark Gelvin

Hopewell, 48

Brian Mark Gelvin, 48, of Plank Road, Hopewell, passed away on Tuesday, January 5, 2010, at his home with his family by his side. He was born on December 3, 1961 in McConnellsburg, Pa., a son of Rheon O. and Patsy M. (Hess) Gelvin of Hustontown. On November 20, 1998 in Winchester, Va., he married the former Connie (Hess) Gelvin.

 

Along with his wife and parents he is survived by the following family: daughter Nikole V. Gelvin, Everett; three stepchildren: Angela R. Clark, Philadelphia; Barry D. Clark, married to Miranda (Caron), Bedford; Joshua and fiancé Courtney Doyle, Three Springs; four brothers: Randy, married to Trudy, Hustontown; Jeff, married to Stacy, Hustontown; Steve, married to Tammy, Hustontown; Tim, married to Kathy, Hustontown; four grandchildren: Autumn, Jordan, Katelyn and Mason; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents and a sister.

Mr. Gelvin attended Faith Assembly of God, Roaring Spring, and also Hustontown Church of God.

He was a graduate of Forbes Road High School Class of 1979 where he played baseball and basketball.

He was employed by U.S. Utility of Perrysburg, Ohio, for 20 years as a lineman and most recently as project manager until his illness.

Mark played in various baseball and softball leagues, including Bedford County Baseball League for Hustontown, Bedford County Softball League for U.S. Utility, Fulton County Baseball League for Hustontown and Fulton County Fastpitch Softball League for Hustontown.

He was an avid hunter and a member of Down River Country Club where he could be found with his best friend, Robert Ross.

He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be sadly missed.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, January 8, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel at Akers Funeral Home, Everett, with Rev. Gary Sams and Pastor Donald Rowe officiating.

Friends may call at Akers Funeral Home, 299 Raystown Road, Everett, on Thursday, January 7, 2010, from 3-9 p.m. and on Friday from 12:00 noon until the hour of service at the funeral home. (www.akersfuneralhome.com)

Burial will be held at Everett Cemetery.

If friends so desire memorial contributions may be made in memory of Mr. Gelvin to the American Cancer Society.
