2 Rescued From Car Submerged In Rain-Swollen Creek

MEDIA, Pa. (AP) – A teenager clinging to a log in a rainswollen creek was one of two people rescued from the water after their car went off the road in suburban Philadelphia.

Middletown fire Chief Ric Tull says the 14-year-old escaped the vehicle by climbing out a window. She was clinging to a log in Ridley Creek when rescuers reached her around noon Saturday.

Tull says firefighters then extricated the driver, who is the girl’s mother and had remained in the car. Tull says both were taken to a hospital and are doing fine.
