Cumberland Valley Christian 54

The McConnellsburg Spartans picked up their very first win of the 2009-10 season Thursday evening with an impressive 71-54 win over Cumberland Valley Christian. Ryan Defibaugh netted a career-high 22 points and also grabbed 11 rebounds, and Evan Appleby added 19 points. Nathan Swope hit double digits with 12 points, and Drew Wink tallied 11 points, eight assists and four steals during the non-league match.

Forbes Road 61 Belleville 30

Andrew King pumped in a career high 18 points for the victorious Forbes Road Cardinals, who downed Belleville Mennonite 61-30 Friday evening. Jesse Newman followed with 16 points, while Tanner Henry led the defense with 12 rebounds and six blocked shots in addition to 10 points. Tyler Keller was the next highest scorer with eight points.

Southern Fulton 59 NBC 44

Luke Mellott and Ryan Harper both hit double digits for the Southern Fulton Indians, who defeated the Northern Bedford Panthers 59-44 last Friday night. Mellott totalled 16 points, 15 rebounds and three blocked shots, and Harper netted 12 points and four steals. J.C. Munson was the next highest scorer with eight points during the Sideling Hill League game.

Everett 40 McConnellsburg 36

McConnellsburg only tallied three points in the third quarter of last Wednesday’s Sideling Hill League game, allowing Everett to pull away for the slim 40-36 win. Ryan Defibaugh again led his Spartan teammates with 15 points and 11 rebounds, while Evan Appleby contributed eight points.

Forbes Road 51 Hyndman 17

Hyndman managed to score just seven points against Forbes Road’s defense prior to the halftime break last Tuesday. The Cardinals went on to win the Sideling Hill League game 51-17 with Jesse Newman paving the way with 17 points, seven steals and three assists. Tanner Henry hit a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
