William D. McCoy
William D. McCoy, 82, St. Thomas, died Sunday, December 20, 2009, at his residence.
He was born January 15, 1927, in New Grenada, the son of the late Amos McCoy and Mary Stains Strait. He was married to Viola King McCoy in 1949.
He was employed by Letterkenny Army Depot as a heavy automotive mechanic for 20 years until his retirement.
He was a member, past treasurer and past president of the Williamson Ruritan Club and a member of the St. Thomas VFW.
He enlisted in the Army from 1945-1946, serving in the Asiatic Pacific Campaign.
He is survied by three sons: Gary (husband of Jean) McCoy of Willamson, Pa.; Terry (husband of Tracey) McCoy, Mont Alto, Pa.; and Donnie (hsuband of Tina) McCoy, Waynesboro; and a daughter, Deborah K. Condon, Sumas, Wash.; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Evelyn Shives, Shippensburg; and a half-brother, Clyde (husband of Diane) Strait, McConnellsburg.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Viola McCoy; his father, Amos McCoy; his mother, Mary Strait; one half-brother, George Strait; and a brother, Robert McCoy.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 23, at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home Ltd., Chambersburg. Burial was made in Parklawn Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg. Rev. Alan Wilson officiated.
