Vearl D. Fletcher
Vearl D. Fletcher, 80, Warfordsburg, died Friday, December 18, 2009, at his residence.
He was born in Brush Creek, Pa., February 11, 1929, the son of the late Alvin D. and Minnie Pearl (Diehl) Fletcher. He was the husband of Margaret E. (Funk) Fletcher, whom he married July 21, 1951.
He retired from Letterkenny Army Depot in 1981 after 34 years of service and then began farming in Warfordsburg.
He was a member of Pleasant Grove Christian Church, Warfordsburg, past member of the Odd Fellows in Needmore, and he also loved playing checkers and hunting.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters: Barbara J. (wife of Stephen) Weller, Mc- Connellsburg; Cathy L. (wife of Dennis) Albright, Carlisle; Rita G. (wife of Timothy) Stapleton, Great Cacapon, W.Va.; sons: Bryan Vearl (husband of Debbie) Fletcher, Harrisonville; Stuart K. (husband of Cheryl) Fletcher, McConnellsburg; Eric K. Fletcher, Warfordsburg; sister Gaynell Hall, Harrisonville; brother Carl Fletcher, Warfordsburg; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Clyde Fletcher; and sisters: Arvada Sigel and Leona Zies.
Funeral services were held at Pleasant Grove Christian Church, Warfordsburg, at 2:00 p.m., on Tuesday, December 22. Rev. Denver Plessinger officiated. Burial was at Pleasant Grove Christian Cemetery, Warfordsburg.
